Job summary

Huhtamaki in Waterville, Maine is seeking a Mechanic AA to join our Maintenance Department on a rotating shift. You will set up and maintain equipment to ensure production and quality.

You will diagnose mechanical problems, perform preventative maintenance, respond to service requests, read blueprints, and train trainees. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, 401K, pension, tuition reimbursement, wellness and PTO.

Qualifications

  • Technical 2 year associates degree in Mechanical Maintenance.
  • 5 years as a Journeyman A.
  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and maintain assigned equipment to support production and quality.
  • Confer with supervisor at shift start to determine work priorities and resources.
  • Analyze mechanical problems and plan corrective actions.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and equipment servicing.
  • Test equipment to verify operation before returning to production.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and train maintenance staff.

Your opportunity

We’re currently looking for a Mechanic AA at our plant located in Waterville, Maine. This position is in our Maintenance Department and may require rotating shift work.


What you’ll be doing

To setup and maintain assigned equipment with responsibility for production and quality of equipment.



  1. Confers with supervisor at the start of each shift to determine work priorities, supplies required and resources needed.

  2. Receives incoming requests for services and assigns for completion on a priority basis

  3. Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action.

  4. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality

  5. Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing changes equipment to new sizes or performs scheduled maintenance

  6. Tests equipment to check operation prior to going back into production.

  7. Examines tests and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications using gauges and instruments, and record data on appropriate forms

  8. Make preventative maintenance checks and reports

  9. Notifies department supervision of recurring equipment failures

  10. Instructs and directs any maintenance trainees assigned.

  11. Cleans and washes equipment and machines,

  12. Performs routine oiling, greasing of maintenance shop equipment.

  13. Maintain a safe working environment.

  14. Train other personnel of the functions of this position.

  15. Develops among assigned personnel a consciousness for the need for teamwork to attain the highest quality and productivity.

  16. Team member in departmental Safety Audits

  17. Care for all Company issued tools and maintain a clean and safe work area/s


What you’ll bring to the role

Qualifications:



  • Technical 2 year associates degree in Mechanical Maintenance and 5 years as a Journeyman A

  • Manual dexterity skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blue prints

  • Ability to operate material handling equipment

  • Ability to effectively communicate with written and verbal communications

  • Satisfactory company work records including attendance


Physical Requirements:


  1. Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints.

  2. Manual dexterity.

  3. Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping, standing, squatting, bending, crawling, twisting and lifting of 50 pounds.

  4. Ability to comprehend instruction and be advance to Maintenance B position through testing and by proven competence.
