Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to repair and maintain heavy industrial machinery at our Baltimore area facility. You will diagnose equipment failures, dismantle and replace parts, and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.

The role requires a technical school background and at least three years of hands-on mechanical repair experience in a heavy industrial setting. You will follow OEM standards and the preventive maintenance program, and collaborate with teams to

Responsibilities

• Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble.
• Diagnoses equipment failures and provide recommendations for proper repair course of action.
• Dismantles devices to remove and replace defective parts; installs special functional and structural parts.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Initiates purchase orders for parts and machines.
• Ensures equipment complies with OEMs and regulatory standards, and maintains lubrication per OEM schedule.
• Administers Preventive Maintenance program from computer system; follows PM Work Order procedures.

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the duties outlined below.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

• Observes mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of trouble
• Diagnoses equipment failures and provide recommendations for proper repair course of action
• Dismantles devices to remove and replace defective parts, Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines
• Ensure that all equipment complies with OEMs and Regulatory Agencies operating standards, Ensures proper equipment lubrication in compliance with OEMs lubrication schedule
• Administers Preventive Maintenance program from computer system, Follows Preventive Maintenance Work Order procedures

Job Qualifications

• 3 years minimum mechanical repair related experience in a heavy industrial setting or equivalent combination of education and experience.
