MODERN DISPOSAL SERVICES is seeking a Mechanic for the 3rd shift in Lewiston, NY. The role focuses on repairing and maintaining diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, with a strong emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities include chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic/electrical systems, HVAC, suspension, and brake work, plus basic tire service. CDL preferred; CDL holders encouraged to apply. The position is full-time with benefits and opportunities to advance.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance on Class 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
• Team-oriented and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic/electrical systems, HVAC, suspension, drive train and steering.
• Perform basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks.
• Provide road service when needed to return equipment to operation safely and efficiently.
• Identify malfunctions using electronic tools and complete required training.
• Maintain a clean, professional work area and perform other duties as assigned.

Mechanic - 3rd Shift

FULL TIME Manual Labor Lewiston, NY, US

Salary Range: $22.76 To $31.13 Hourly

Position Summary

With direct supervision from a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, a Mechanic performs repair and maintenance work on diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks including, but not limited to, chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies and control systems, hydraulic electrical, air brake systems, general engine work, HVAC components, suspension, drive train and steering systems. The Mechanic may also perform basic tire work, such as replacement, tire rotation, and tread depth checks. This position is expected to be third shift (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM).

• Chassis component repair and maintenance.
• Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems; and air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Engine repair and maintenance.
• Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems.
• Heating and air conditioning.
• Air Brake Repair and Maintenance
• Safely provides road service when necessary to ensure that the Company’s equipment is returned to operation in a safe and efficient manner.
• Identifies the source of the malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools.
• Completes applicable Company training programs.
• Maintains a clean and professional work area.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
