Job summary

SWPC in Maryville, TN is seeking a Maintenance Technician to service and maintain fleet vehicles and equipment within a manufacturing environment. The role includes minor forklift repairs, small engine work, and coordinating major repairs with outside vendors.

The ideal candidate understands hydraulics and basic electrical systems, has a GED or high school diploma, and may have vocational automotive training. Some overtime or off-shift work may be required.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Prior experience with vehicle or equipment maintenance is required.
• Vocational automotive training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain fleet vehicles.
• Perform minor forklift and other equipment repairs.
• Complete preventative maintenance per manufacturer recommendations on all equipment.
• Coordinate outside vendors for major equipment repairs.
• Assist electricians, plumbers, welders as needed.
• Assist with landscaping duties and winter events as required.
• May be required to work off shift or overtime in emergencies.

Job description

This position will work in all aspects of Facility Maintenance, with a primary focus on fleet vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Maryville, TN

Shift:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Service and maintain fleet vehicles
• Minor Fork truck and other PIV repairs
• Repair and service all landscaping equipment
• Small engine repairs
• Complete preventative maintenance per manufacturer's recommendations on all equipment
• Coordinate outside vendors for major equipment repairs
• Assist electricians, plumbers, welders as needed
• Assist with landscaping duties if needed
• Assist with winter events, such as salting, shoveling, or plowing
• May be required to work off shift or overtime as emergencies require

Education and Experience:

• High School/GED required
• Prior experience with vehicle and/or equipment maintenance required
• Vocational school education in Automotive preferred

Competencies and Skills:

• Understanding of both electric and internal combustion powered equipment
• Hydraulics operations
• General understanding of vehicle electrical systems
• Basic computer skills preferred

Physical Demands:

• Works in a manufacturing environment
• Able to lift and move up to 25 pounds occasionally
• Able to stand, sit, stoop, squat and walk

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
