Job summary

Darling Ingredients is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive and corrective maintenance in the rendering plant under supervision.

The role involves hands-on work with electrical and mechanical systems, welding, and fabrication to keep equipment in optimal condition. Night and on-call availability may be required; safety rules and teamwork are emphasized in daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including fabrication and installation.
• Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
• Troubleshoots and repairs rendering equipment.
• Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Assists on fabrication and construction projects.
• Performs machine repair and installation such as motors, gear boxes, piping, belts, bearings.
• Daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment.
• Diagnoses and replaces parts with minimal direction.
• Communicates with operators and management.
• Follows all safety rules and attends safety meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
• Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
• Able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all rendering equipment.
• Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Assists personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, run threaded piping, run weld piping, replace belting, replace bearings, welds and uses cutting torch.
• Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Communicates well with operators and management.
• Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of Industrial Maintenance experience

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
• May need to work nights and weekends; available "on call" as needed.

Work Environment

• Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and or slippery floors and high heat or cold temperatures.
