Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform preventive and corrective maintenance in our plant under supervision.

The role covers electrical and mechanical systems, fabrication, welding, troubleshooting, and keeping equipment in good working condition. You will follow preventive maintenance schedules, work nights and weekends on call as needed, and collaborate with operators and management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of Industrial Maintenance experience

Responsibilities

• Performs maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including fabrication, welding, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Maintains all plant equipment in good working condition.
• Follows preventive maintenance schedules and safety rules.

Job description

The Maintenance Mechanic position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
• Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
• Follows preventative maintenance schedule.
• Able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all rendering equipment.
• Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Assists personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, run threaded piping, run weld piping, replace belting, replace bearings, welds and uses cutting torch.
• Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Communicates well with operators and management.
• Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of Industrial Maintenance experience
  

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to push, pull, move, or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
• May need to work nights and weekends; available "on call" as needed.
  

Work Environment

• Job functions will be carried out in a rendering facility which requires tolerance for wet and or slippery floors and high heat or cold temperatures.
