Job summary

D&D Elevator, a member of American Elevator Group (AEG), is seeking an experienced elevator mechanic for on-site installation, modernization, and repair work in the New York area.

You will read blueprints, test safety features, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. Travel with weekly overnight stays is required; minimum two nights. Qualified candidates have 4+ years of experience and valid licenses; CET/NEIEP certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a repair elevator mechanic.
  • Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and related documents.
  • Experience installing equipment on site while following safety procedures.
  • Valid driver's license; NYS DOL Mechanics License or ability to obtain within 60 days; NYC DOB license or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Responsibilities

  • Perform elevator new installation and modernization work.
  • Test and adjust operating and safety features such as speed, leveling, braking, emergency stop, and alarm bell.
  • Install/replace electronic control panels, switches, relays, signal devices, electric motors, generators and related equipment.
  • Inspect, adjust, maintain, and repair hoist motors and machinery, governors, door mechanisms, cables, hydraulic buffers, pumps, brakes, rails, guides and related equipment.
  • Read blueprints to determine layout of components and select equipment for installation or repair.
  • Assemble elevator cars, installing platform, walls, and doors.
  • Test newly installed equipment to ensure it meets required specifications per elevator code.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in brakes, motors, switches, and control systems.
  • Dismantle elevator components to access and replace defective parts using hoists and tools.
  • Travel with weekly overnight stays; minimum 2 nights.
