Job summary

Loomis Armored Taunton is seeking a Fleet Operations & Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair the company’s fleet vehicles at Taunton, MA. This role supports branch operations and ensures vehicle readiness for daily cash-in-transit service.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, drive test vehicles, manage parts inventory, and stay compliant with DOT and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance.
• Valid driver's license (Class C or better) to operate 2,000–50,000 lb vehicles.
• Ability to read technical service manuals and write work orders.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair of fleet vehicles per maintenance schedules.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil changes, belts, hoses, brakes).

Job Overview: This position is responsible for the Fleet Operations and Maintenance and reports to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities :

• Service and repair of all fleet vehicles.
• Perform preventive maintenance (lube, oil change, replace belts, hoses, inspect brakes, repack bearings, check tires, on all size vehicles. Must perform per month.
• Diagnose and effectively repair mechanical, engine and electrical irregularities/malfunctions on all size vehicles.
• Drive automatic and standard shift vehicles for testing, transfer, and pick-up/delivery of parts.
• Perform inventory and order parts, supplies, as needed.

Primary Qualifications :

• 5+ years of experience (Preferably Dealership. Foreign/Domestic vehicle experience a plus)
• Possession of valid driver’s license (C or better) and ability to drive both automatic and standard transmission vehicles from 2,000 to 50,000 lbs . in size.
• Must meet qualifications as outlined in section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations.
• Must meet DOT standards to achieve brake and annual inspection certifications. A minimum of 1 year experience or a certificate from an approved training program.

Individual Skills and Competencies :

• Ability to read and understand technical service manuals, repair orders, labels, and gauges (in English). .
• Ability to write work orders, purchase orders.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in English) using telephone for ordering parts and supplies.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in a semi-enclosed structure and outdoors.
• Environment involves chemical handling, gasoline/diesel fumes and intermittent high noise exposure.
• Exposed to wet and dry conditions in extreme heat and/or cold.
• Full -time schedule consists of an average of 40 hours per week for a 5-day period.
