Job summary

Prysmian Group is seeking skilled maintenance personnel for our Taunton, MA manufacturing plant. You will diagnose, repair, install, and maintain wire and cable equipment, using lathes, mills and other tools as required.

We offer a robust benefits package, a 4th shift with premiums, and opportunities for overtime. A High School diploma and basic English skills are required, with SAP knowledge a plus.

Qualifications

  • Some manufacturing experience preferred; demonstrated mechanical ability.
  • Must complete on‑the‑job training for specific job classification, as required.
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and perform required repairs.
  • Install and dismantle equipment, weld, pipe-fit as required.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, 5S, and participate in continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly work area and ensure product quality per QMS.
  • Be prepared for overtime or different schedules on short notice.
  • Have all necessary mechanics’ tools.

Pay Rate: $30.30 - $36.19 ***SEEKING 4th Shift 7:30 pm - 7:30 am***

Position Description
  • Responsible for diagnosing and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and making required repairs to this equipment; installing and dismantling all equipment, welding, pipe fitting, and other work as required.
  • Responsible for general mechanics, pneumatics and power transmission equipment and repairs as it relates to wire and cable equipment; operating lathes, milling machines, drill presses and other machine shop equipment without direction.
  • Will perform preventive maintenance procedures, 5S activities and participate in continuous improvement events.
  • Must maintain work area in a safe and orderly condition at all times.
  • Ensure all products meet requirements as defined by the Plant’s Quality Management Systems.
  • Comply with all applicable safety procedures and ISO14001 EMS guidelines.
  • Will be required to work overtime or different schedules when required and on short notice.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of management.
  • Must have all necessary mechanics’ tools.
Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read, write, understand and communicate effectively in English

Experience
  • Some manufacturing experience preferred or demonstrated mechanical ability in an manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must complete OJT for specific job classification, as required, in a timely manner

  • Must be able to work independently according to verbal and written instructions
  • Must learn basic computer transactions and inputs; must have ability to become certified SAP User
  • Must have basic math and communication skills. Must develop and maintain proficiency in required job skills
  • Must be capable of lifting or moving 50 lbs. and occasionally lifting or moving 75 lbs.
