Job description

This position is responsible for working as part of a team of mechanics to assemble and test complex aircraft ground support and aviation equipment with hand and power tools. Working on a bench or on shop floor while adhering to productivity and quality standards. Will be expected to assemble, tear down, troubleshoot, and reassembly as necessary. This is a high-mix, low volume environment where mechanical skill and aptitude are needed to assemble a very broad product line of mechanical and powered products and jacks.

Essential Functions
  • Position parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled by following blueprints/technical drawings.
  • Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets or other fasteners, using various hand tools.
  • Measure correctly.
  • Can read hydraulic schematics and assembly prints with little to no help interpreting.
  • Able to perform test procedures/INS with little to no guidance.
  • Can spot quality defects in other builds and help to amend.
  • Trouble shoot and problem solving of area builds.
  • Ability to Job On/Off using scheduling application with no help.
  • Ability to follow direction.
Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Prior experience as a Mechanic, preferably with ground support equipment, or other complex industrial machines preferred
    • 1 – 2-year related experience with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical assemblies.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, safety rules,
  • Read and interpret operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Ability to bend and kneel frequently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to follow all safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in small areas in order to perform the work.
  • Ability to work with both arms extended for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to climb step ladders, work platforms as needed.

Normal shop environment that includes some exposure to noise, fumes and dust.
