Job summary

Verus Aerospace is seeking a skilled maintenance mechanic to perform routine and preventative maintenance on facility equipment and machinery. The role requires attention to detail, the ability to work autonomously, and a strong focus on safety.

Responsibilities include repairing or replacing defective parts with hand and power tools, inspecting drives and motors, and documenting work. A GED or technical degree is expected; aerospace experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Apprenticeship graduate or technical degree helpful.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible mechanic experience; aerospace is a plus.
  • Experience/knowledge in fixturing/tooling applications.
  • Experience with hard metals such as Inconel and titanium is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with repair or replacement of defective equipment parts using hand and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure machines run smoothly and buildings operate efficiently.
  • Inspect drives, motors, belts, fluids, and filters; follow checklists.
  • Use tools from hand tools to precision instruments and electrical testing devices.
  • Assemble, install, and/or repair wiring, plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose machine malfunctions by inspecting and testing machinery.
  • Record maintenance and repair work and costs.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts.

Job description

Duties will include but are not limited to the following, routine maintenance and repair of facility and grounds. Repair and preventative maintenance of a variety of machinery, tools, equipment used in the facility. A strong attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously for long periods of time. This position requires a high sense of urgency with a focus on safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with repair or replacement defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, and perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Assemble, install and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment in order to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Record maintenance and repair work performed and the costs of the work.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Assist in dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools
  • Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person
  • Assis with diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Apprenticeship graduate or technical degree helpful.
  • Aerospace experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible mechanic, aerospace industry is a plus
  • Experience/knowledge applicable to fixturing/tooling applications
  • Experience with hard metals such as Inconel and titanium is a plus
  • Working familiarity with shop planning/tooling
