Job summary

Russell Landscape is seeking a skilled mechanic to maintain trucks and equipment, perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and complete repairs to keep field operations running smoothly.

The role includes supervising a fellow mechanic and coordinating with Branch Managers, with a focus on uptime, safety, and cost control. Strong communication, bilingual English/Spanish, and computer skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of heavy-duty/Isuzu repair experience preferred.
• Two years of automobile repair and preventive maintenance experience required.
• Previous supervisory and/or business leadership experience preferred.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer and mobile applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean, and productive shop.
• Maintain accurate shop equipment inventory and work logs.
• Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance.
• Manage a fleet of approximately 20 vehicles.
• Manage approximately 250 pieces of equipment, including skid steers, trailers, commercial 48” mowers, and small handheld equipment.
• Oversee the work of another mechanic.
• Prioritize workflow to maximize equipment uptime.
• Communicate with Branch Managers regarding service and equipment issues.
• Review work performed on equipment and ensure timely completion of logs.
• Assist with branch inventory audits.
• Collaborate with peers to support organizational objectives.

Russell Landscape is looking for a mechanic to keep our trucks and equipment running. Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing landscaping equipment, vehicles, and small engines to keep field operations running efficiently. Perform routine maintenance, diagnoses mechanical issues, and completes repairs while ensuring equipment is safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a safe, clean, and productive shop.
• Maintain accurate shop equipment inventory and work logs.
• Schedule and oversee preventive maintenance.
• Manage a fleet of approximately 20 vehicles.
• Manage approximately 250 pieces of equipment, including skid steers, trailers, commercial 48” mowers, and small handheld equipment.
• Manage and oversee the work of another mechanic.
• Prioritize workflow to maximize equipment uptime.
• Control costs by identifying warranty opportunities, evaluating service quality, identifying repetitive repairs, and scheduling cost-effective preventive parts replacement.
• Assist other shops as needed.
• Proactively communicate with Branch Managers regarding service and equipment issues.
• Review work performed on equipment and ensure accurate and timely completion of work logs.
• Assist with branch inventory audits.
• Collaborate with peers to support the organization’s overall objectives.

Qualifications

• Two years of heavy-duty/Isuzu repair experience preferred.
• Two years of automobile repair and preventive maintenance experience required.
• Previous supervisory and/or business leadership experience preferred, particularly when working with internal customers/co-workers and external vendors.
• Ability to maintain accurate administrative paperwork, repair and maintenance records, and inventory history logs.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations preferred.
• Previous experience with parts and/or tires preferred.
• Experience with small-engine landscape equipment.
• Combination of relevant education and/or experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computer and mobile applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
