Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Certificate from a college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical role preferred.
- Industrial and/or marine advanced mechanical experience preferred:
- Journeyman 1: 1-3 years
- Journeyman 2: 3-5 years
- Journeyman 3: 5+ years
- 2+ years Navy ship repair experience (shipyard, contractor, government)
- Ability to comprehend and utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings, technical manuals to weld metals
- Must have strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and able to multitask
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment with ongoing deadlines
- Must be able to work independently
- Understanding of Ship repair industry
- Must be DBIDS/TWIC credential eligible
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
Preferred Experience:
- LCAC/SSC experience preferred
Working Conditions:
- Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, as well as in an office-controlled environment.
- May have work in confined spaces.
- Must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE when required.
- Visits may require standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching, climbing up ladders, and over obstructions such as scaffolding and internal craft structural members to perform work.
- 50lbs. of lifting may be involved.
- Some travel may be required
