Job summary

Silgan Containers in Burlington, IA is hiring Mechanics. Starting wage is $27.78/hr with a $3,000 sign-on bonus and shift differential. You’ll train on 1st shift (6:00 AM–6:00 PM) then move to 2nd shift (6:00 PM–6:00 AM) on a 2-2-3 schedule with every other weekend off.

Responsibilities include installation, startup, and qualification of our can-making machines, plus troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical systems with close tolerances. Strong mechanical aptitude and a HS diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to operate and maintain Silgan's can-line machinery.
• Willingness to learn and follow safety and quality procedures.

Your Schedule:

• Train on 1st shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. After training is complete, you'll work the night shift from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
• Work a 2-2-3 schedule: You will work 2 days, then get 2 rest days, followed by 3 days of work, and get every other weekend off
• Non-floating schedule: You will NOTrotate between days and nights

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with the installation, launch, and qualification of our newest can-making machines.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and modify all mechanical systems.
• Use precision measuring tools and work with close tolerances up to .0010.
• Work with management to improve work area, safety, quality, cost, and productivity.

We Need You To Have:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• A desire to operate and maintain Silgan's industrial can lines by performing and documenting quality checks and measurements
