Job summary

Precision Pipeline is seeking a Construction Fleet Mechanic for our Lancaster, Ohio location. The role involves diagnosing, servicing, and repairing heavy equipment, including diesel engines, brakes, transmissions, and welding, to keep the fleet safe and productive.

You will perform preventive maintenance, review safety issues, create work orders, and coordinate with drivers and plant managers. A valid driver’s license and your own tools are required, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and

Qualifications

  • Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance data and manuals.
  • Willingness to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, service and repair heavy equipment systems including diesel engines, brakes, transmissions and welding.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (lubrication, oil changes, inspections).
  • Perform brake inspections/adjustments per Federal DOT requirements on commercial vehicles.
  • Create legible work orders detailing repairs and services performed.
  • Coordinate with location supervisor and review pre-trip inspections to prioritize work.
  • Input daily repair reports into the tracking software.
  • Communicate with drivers and plant managers to ensure adherence to maintenance policies.
  • Order parts from approved vendors and pick up parts as needed.

Job description

Construction Fleet Mechanic for our Lancaster Ohio Location
Essential Functions:
  • Diagnose, service and repair various systems that are found on pieces of heavy equipment such as mechanical and computer electronic controls, air brake systems, transmissions, computer controlled automatic and manual transmissions, and pneumatic systems.
  • Participate in the review of some operational and mechanical safety related issues associated with the fleet including.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance such as lubricating, oil changes, and failure analysis.
  • Perform routine brake inspections/ adjustments on commercial vehicles following Federal DOT requirements.
  • Create work orders on repairs and services providing legible and accurate information for work performed.
  • Coordinate with location supervisor and review Pre-Trip truck inspections to prioritize work accordingly.
  • Input daily repair reports into software-based tracking program.
  • Communicate with drivers and plant managers to ensure adherence to preventative vehicle maintenance policies and practices.
  • Use a wide variety of hand and power tools, cutting torches and welding equipment.
  • Order parts from approved vendors and drive Company pick-up/repair truck to pick up parts when needed.
