Job summary

Henkels & McCoy, Inc. is seeking a skilled diesel mechanic to support our heavy equipment and construction fleet. You will diagnose and repair engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems on-site and at our workshop, ensuring safe operation and minimal downtime.

Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, engine overhauls, and using diagnostic software to troubleshoot issues. A trade qualification and valid license are required, with willingness to work flexible hours including weekends.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in construction or heavy equipment.
  • Trade qualification in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and construction machinery.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and mechanical tools.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, and other systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns and ensure safe operation.
  • Overhaul engines, replace components, and weld or fabricate when needed.
  • Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot issues accurately.
  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure safety and environmental regulations are followed.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field repairs.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and other mechanics to prioritize repairs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and adhere to health and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to equipment breakdowns on job sites and perform field repairs when needed.

  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and other mechanics to prioritize and complete repairs quickly.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and adhere to health and safety protocols.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably in a construction or heavy equipment environment.

  • Trade qualification in diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance (e.g., Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent).

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and construction machinery.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and mechanical tools.

  • Valid driver's license

  • Physical ability to work in demanding environments and lift heavy components.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or on-call, as needed.
