Job summary

Silgan Containers in Hoopeston, IL is seeking a Press Line Mechanic to keep sheet-fed presses running safely and efficiently. You will operate, maintain, and overhaul equipment to ensure quality ends and production stay on track.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Industrial production experience preferred.
• Familiarity with measurement equipment and procedures.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings, manuals, and parts lists.

Responsibilities

• Service, operate, maintain, and oversee presses and related equipment as assigned.
• Maintain production of standard quality ends per company standards.
• Perform scheduled inspections and record data; respond to out-of-spec conditions.
• Demonstrate ability to efficiently maintain and overhaul assigned equipment.

What you’ll do:

• Service, operate, maintain, overhaul and monitor sheet feeder, presses, compound liners, elevators, conveyors,compound system, and other pieces of equipment as assigned
• Maintain production of standard quality ends as defined in our quality standards
• Perform inspection procedures at the scheduled intervals, enter the corresponding data into a Windows-based computer, and react accordingly to any out-of-standard conditions
• Demonstrate the ability to efficiently maintain and overhaul assigned equipment

We need you to have:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalency
• Industrial production experience preferred
• Familiarity with measurement equipment and procedures
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and drawings, handbook specifications, equipment manuals, parts lists, and other written materials
