Job summary

Hershey Creamery Co is seeking a robust maintenance technician for our Harrisburg facility. The role offers a consistent 40-50 hour workweek, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday production days and overtime.

First shift runs 5am to 3pm or completion, with training and paid raises. Employees receive 100% company-paid healthcare and life insurance, a 401K with company match, seven paid holidays, and overtime pay after 40 hours.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old with HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.
• Experience or training in manufacturing/food manufacturing or supply-chain preferred.
• Pre-scheduled Day or Night shifts with advance notice.
• Ability to understand and follow English instructions in detail.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and endure long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on plant process and materials handling equipment.
• Repair and maintain machinery such as motors, conveyors, and production machines.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and drawings.
• Suggest work-method improvements and communicate with leaders.
• Initiate purchase or work orders for parts, tools, and machines.
• Operate at steady pace and maximize equipment use.
• Communicate equipment and product issues clearly to supervisors.
• Maintain production flow understanding from staging to storage.
• Complete required paperwork accurately and follow GMP and OSHA rules.
• Adhere to in-house asset management software usage and safety practices.

• Consistent Schedule –Average a 40-50 hour workweek each week, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturday Production Days (all overtime)

Essential Duties

• Perform repairs and preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of all plant process and materials handling equipment
• Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment within the facility such as motors, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment
• Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools and power tools
• Be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, sketches, and engineering drawings
• Suggest improvements in work methods and procedures by communicating with workers, leaders, and production supervisors
• Initiate purchase orders or work orders for parts, tools, and machines
• Performs at reasonable speeds, taking full advantage of the equipment available
• Communicates issues with equipment, machinery, ingredients or product to supervisors clearly and immediately
• Maintains an understanding of the flow of work on the production floor, from staging, through production, to storage
• Completes required paperwork properly, and understands the content
• Shows a basic understanding and application of in-house asset management software
• Understands and shows the ability to abide by applicable OSHA standards and environmental regulations
• Observe all safety procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and good housekeeping practices
• Acts with quality, safety, and teamwork in mind at all times
• Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by supervisors or Plant Management

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes
• Experience or training in manufacturing/food manufacturing or supply-chain environment is preferred
• Must be able to work pre-scheduled Day or Night shifts – schedules created with plenty of notice
• Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions in English with high level of detail
• Physical requirements: ability to work 8+ hour shifts, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time and perform repetitive motions
• Must be able to work in an environment with varying hot (110 degrees) and cold (-40 degrees) temperatures
• Must be able to get to work independently on time, every day
