Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools seeks a Mechanic in the Maintenance Department to perform preventative maintenance on district vehicles and to repair lawn equipment throughout the county. The role supports the 12-month work year and reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Maintenance.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and related mechanical experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to lift at least 50 lbs. CDL is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma, and education and/or experience in mechanical work that is directly related to the job.

Requirements

• Must be able to bend, push, pull, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must have a current driver's license with a clean driving record.
• A CDL is a plus, but not required
• Must be able to operate power tools and lawn equipment.

Job Goal

• Perform preventative maintenance on all WCPS vehicles
• Repair lawn equipment - riding mowers, tractors, push mowers, weed eaters,
• Blowers, etc.
• Order materials and keep inventory for preventative maintenance
• Maintain a clean work environment

Illustrative Examples Of Work

• Troubleshooting lawn mowers and vehicle issues
• Replaces faulty parts
