Job summary

Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. in Cloverdale, VA, is seeking a maintenance mechanic to inspect, repair, and maintain machinery, vehicles, and electrical equipment across project sites.

You will design action plans, log repairs, and monitor parts inventory while ensuring safety and compliance with DOT standards. This role requires travel to surrounding areas as needed. Ideal candidates have at least two years of hands-on experience, own tools, and a CDL Class A, with willingness to travel and work

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ experience.
• Must provide own tools.
• Experience in electrical, hydraulics, and diesel preferred.
• Must have or be eligible to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Willing to travel when necessary.
• 50+ hrs a week expected.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and vehicles including tires and tracks.
• Meet with crew members to understand concerns and identify issues.
• Assemble mechanical components according to specs.
• Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine problems.
• Design a plan of action for maintenance tasks and upgrades.
• Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records.
• Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary.
• Perform vehicle/equipment assessments and alert for prohibitions to operating correctly.
• Perform DOT inspections.

Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services.

Job Description

We are seeking a mechanic to perform the following:

• Conduct regular maintenance on machinery, systems, and automotive vehicles including tires and tracks
• Meet with crew members and leads to better understand their concerns and identify issues.
• Assemble mechanical components according to specs
• Examine machines and oversee diagnostic tests to determine functionality problems
• Design a plan of action for all maintenance equipment tasks and upgrades.
• Maintain work logs, repairs, and maintenance records
• Monitor inventory and order new parts when necessary
• Perform vehicle/equipment assessments and alert appropriate parties on issues that will prohibit their vehicle/equipment from operating correctly or passing an inspections
• Perform DOT inspections
• This position will be out of the Cloverdale office and will support surrounding areas.
