Job summary

NG Companies is seeking a skilled mechanic to join our team and keep our fleet running smoothly. The role involves hands-on repairs and maintenance in a fast-paced environment, with experience on semis, Hydrovac trucks, trailers, and pickups preferred.

Responsibilities include interpreting work orders, diagnosing issues, and ensuring documentation and safety compliance. Availability for overtime and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in heavy-duty mechanic work (fleet repair)
• Experience with Hydrovac, vacuum trucks, trailers, and trucks preferred
• Must pass pre-employment physical and drug screen

Responsibilities

Summary / Objective

Carry out repairs and maintenance according to manufacturer's procedures in a safe, responsible, and timely manner.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

Available to work some overtime and weekends when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Correctly interpret work orders and technical manuals.
• Correctly troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical failures.
• Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty material on completion of repairs.
• Complies with all DOT, MSA, and OSHA regulations.
• Use instructions to ensure complete service documentation.
• Notifies and/or coordinates additional repairs with the Fleet Manager.
• Assist other technicians, as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management / lead mechanic.

Requirements

• Must pass a pre‑employment physical.
• Must pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy‑duty construction, Hydrovac, Vacuum Truck equipment and Fleet repair experience preferred.
• Must have an approved MVR to drive a company vehicle - Class A or Class B preferred but not required.

• Strong work ethic and self‑motivated to produce quality work under tight deadlines in a safe and professional manner.
• Must be comfortable with computers and have knowledge of computer‑based maintenance programs.
• Must provide own hand tools.
• Willingness to learn and use emerging technology.

Work Environment (temperature, noise level, inside/outside)

• Must be able to work in all weather conditions and noisy environments.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl.
• Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Be able to work extended hours and variable shifts.
