Job summary

The Bartlett Charlotte Arboretum in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Mechanic to service our fleet and equipment used in arborist operations. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose issues, and coordinate repairs to keep trucks and gear in top condition.

Responsibilities include maintaining service logs, ensuring DOT compliance, ordering parts, and communicating with the Local Manager. A safety-first culture and opportunities for advancement accompany competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical repairs of trucks and equipment.
• Experience with diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
• Valid Class B CDL or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ongoing maintenance and repair of company vehicles and tree care equipment (bucket/chip trucks, aerial lifts, chippers, stump grinders, hydraulic sprayers).
• Diagnose problems, perform repairs, and conduct preventative maintenance.
• Maintain service logs and records of maintenance.
• Perform routine inspections to ensure DOT compliance.
• Place orders and manage inventory of parts and supplies.
• Coordinate significant repairs with the Local Manager.
• Adhere to safety standards, policies, and procedures.

The Bartlett Charlotte Arboretum is currently seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on company trucks and equipment within our growing fleet, but please note, our team is responsible for a wide range of job tasks here at the Arboretum.

Mowing turf, spreading mulch/woodchips, herbicide & weeding, leaf cleanup, remediation of deer damage on plants, plant health care, tree and shrub pruning and removals, etc.
