Job summary

Ruppert Landscape Co. in Chantilly, VA is seeking a skilled Mechanic to maintain and service our in-house fleet, including diesel/gas trucks, commercial mowers, and landscape tools.

You will diagnose and repair vehicles, perform preventive maintenance, keep accurate service records, and uphold safety and quality in a fast-paced shop environment. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred; personal tools required. Competitive compensation and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of hands-on mechanical experience.
• Experience with diesel engines and gas-powered equipment preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
• Able to supply personal tools as needed.

• Detail-oriented with emphasis on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair fleet vehicles and equipment (power equipment, mowers, trucks, trailers).
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine service.
• Recondition vehicles twice a year to meet safety and image standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
• Accurately document service records and communicate with internal customers.
• Assist with other operational tasks as needed.

Where You Fit In

As a Mechanic on our in-house fleet team, you will play a critical role in maintaining and servicing a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including diesel/gas trucks, commercial mowers, and two-cycle equipment. This role is essential in upholding our company's image and keeping our operations teams working safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment, including power equipment, mowers, trucks, trailers, and other landscape tools
• Recondition vehicles and equipment twice a year to ensure they meet company image standards and are safe, reliable, and ready for use
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment
• Accurately document and maintain service and repair records
• Provide exceptional internal customer service, prioritizing efficiency, quality, and communication
• Assist with other operational tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• A safety-first mindset with a commitment to adhering to safety regulations and promoting safe work practices
• Minimum of one year of hands‑on mechanical experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude, especially with gas/diesel vehicles and landscaping equipment
• Ability to supply personal tools as needed to perform the role
• Positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow within the organization
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Keen attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
• Experience with diesel engines and bilingual ability (English/Spanish) are preferred but not required

Compensation

$20.00-$25.00 per hour (Actual compensation offered will be based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and other job‑related factors).
