Job description

Position Summary

The primary function of the mechanic is to ensure a vehicle operates at maximum efficiency. The mechanic must have knowledge of mechanics, computerized automotive systems, and the mechanical profiles and specifications of a variety of automobile/equipment makes, models and years. He/she also needs an understanding of computerized repair and testing systems, and must have exceptional eye‑hand coordination, physical stamina and skill with tools. The mechanic applies all of their knowledge and talent in several broad areas of responsibility – troubleshooting, repair, maintenance and service to operating staff members.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspect belts, hoses, and mechanical systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Responsible for lubrication, light service, electrical, preventative maintenance service.
  • Perform and validate equipment inspections to ensure safe operations and handling.
  • Refer heavy‑duty repairs to the designated Repair Service Company.
  • Keep records of repairs performed and report to the Assistant.
  • Work on a variety of makes and models of equipment.
  • Complete work and repair orders in a timely fashion.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanic experience with diesel or heavy construction equipment, or specialty lines such as large‑scale generators, pumps, HVAC or oil & gas equipment strongly preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to handle physical workload.
  • Strong core competencies: trust and integrity, servant‑leadership, collaborative teamwork, independent work, professional communication, and proactive results orientation.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to stand, bend, turn, squat and use hands for 80 % of the time; stand or work indoors/outdoors as required.
  • Must have sufficient arm strength to use hand tools such as hammers and wrenches.
  • Frequently move mechanical equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to communicate with team and management and exchange accurate information.

Salary

The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $26.06 to $33.85 per hour, with starting wage varying based on location, education, training, and experience. Hourly associates may be eligible for overtime, performance‑based bonuses, commissions, car allowance or automobile and fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses in accordance with company travel policy.
