Job summary

Commercial Tire Inc. in Boise is seeking a skilled Mechanic to inspect and test vehicles, perform preventive maintenance (tire rotation, oil changes, wheel balancing, alignments), and service brakes, steering, suspension, and transmissions.

This full-time role requires 3–5 years of related experience or technical training, ASE certifications (A4/A5, A6, A7) and a valid driver’s license; you will work in a safety‑conscious shop with ESOP, retirement plans, PTO, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 or older.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• 3–5 years related experience and/or technical training.
• ASE certification A4 and A5.
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform vehicle inspections and communicate needed repairs to the front counter.
• Inspect and recommend repairs/services using the Vehicle Inspection Report.
• Perform vehicle alignments according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Maintain shop equipment and safety practices.
• Diagnose and repair brakes, steering, suspension, and transmissions.
• Service customer vehicles per Commercial Tire guidelines.
• Assist with parts purchasing and returns; complete training and maintain certifications.
• Support safety and audit requirements; assist with phones and front counter.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Responsible for inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, alignments, oil changes, replacing filters, and fluid exchanges.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completed vehicle inspection every time and communicates to the front counter the items that may need to be repaired.
• Consistently Inspect and recommend needed repairs and/or services using the vehicles inspection report.
  • Proper completion of Vehicle Inspection Report
• Perform vehicle alignments according to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Responsible for maintaining shop equipment and safety practices.
• Detect and perform mechanical issues, installation and repairs to brake, steering, suspension, transmission etc.
• Service customer vehicles according to Commercial Tires guidelines.
• Recommend products and services as needed.
• May initiate purchase orders for parts; support and track purchasing and returns.
• Completes all necessary training within 1 year and is required to maintain certifications.
  • ASE A7 – Heat and Air Systems or 609 AC
  • ASE A6 – Electrical Systems
• 609 AC certification is required for air conditioning service repair.
• Participates in and completes all required training (example: Valvoline, TIA, safety, etc.).
• Supports company safety and operational standards and adheres to all audit requirements.
• Assist with phones, front counter, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FUNCTIONS

Physical Demands:

• Frequent exposure to noise, dirt, dust, mechanical vibration, fumes, and outdoor conditions
