Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. is seeking a surface coating technician at Newport News Shipbuilding to apply protective/decorative coatings to parts and assemblies. Responsibilities include coating with spray, brush or roller, material selection, and basic quality checks.

Ideal candidates have a HS diploma or equivalent with 5 years of related experience; an Associate's degree or apprenticeship is a plus with 3 years experience. Certification may be required.

• Apprentice graduate/Associate’s Degree in relevant discipline; 3 years related experience.
• May require certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitors and verifies quality per statistical process or other control procedures.

The Role

Coats surface of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative materials such as paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, dope, or stain using spray gun. Selects and mixes coating material; coats areas inaccessible to hand sprayer using brush or roller. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Must Have

High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years additional education and/or related experience; Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience. May require certification.
