Job summary

Chamberlain Group in Illinois is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to contribute to general machine design projects with a focus on design, development and sustainability of consumer access control products.

You will support mechanical engineers in day-to-day tasks, create component drawings in Creo, perform basic stress calculations, and participate in design reviews within a cross-functional team environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Must be able to work at Oak Brook, IL office or Elmhurst testing lab 3 days a week.
• Basic understanding of plastics injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, and machine design elements.

Responsibilities

• Modify or create low-complexity parts using basic strength, dynamics and material science.
• Create component and assembly drawings using Creo.
• Attend meetings, including product demos and design reviews.
• Collaborate within a cross-functional team environment.
• Perform basic stress/strain calculations and simple FEA analyses.
• Create prototype parts and assemblies for proof of concept.
• Participate in peer reviews for product design.
• Assist other team members with projects as needed.
• Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules.
