Job summary

Save-A-Lot, Ltd. in Lake Wales, FL is hiring a Meat Wrapper for full-time on-site work. You will learn and perform tasks in the meat department, including packaging, weighing, pricing, labeling, and merchandising to maximize sales while maintaining cold chain and sanitation standards.

The role requires 18+, a high school diploma, basic math, and good English. Experience in grocery perishables is preferred, with opportunities to advance and contribute to team success.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age and able to read, write and speak in English
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Experience in grocery perishable department or meat wrapping preferred
• Proficiency in basic math skills required
• Demonstrate effective oral and written communication
• Language proficiency in Spanish or other languages are a plus in certain locations
• Must be dependable and flexible, including willingness to work in other areas of the store
• Some travel may be required
• Excellent customer service, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Must adhere to a uniform dress code

Responsibilities

• Learns to package authorized beef, pork and poultry items according to company policies and procedures
• Wraps, weighs and prices cuts of meat
• Labels packages according to COOL, USDA and company standards
• Ensures displays and case signs are updated appropriately, and that meat is merchandised and presented to maximize sales
• May assist with product ordering
• Maintains proper date rotation for dated and undated products per company policy
• Prepares and places meat cuts and products in display counter according to company policy & procedures
• Receives, inspects, and stores meat upon delivery, to maintain cold chain and ensure meat quality
• Completes cleaning and sanitation of meat cases and meat rooms, ensuring sanitation and quality standards are achieved
• Follows all company policies and procedures including COOL, Food Safety, Sanitation, Meat/Produce Scale operation, Mark Downs, Inventory Processes, Meat POG’s, Meat Cutter Resource Manual, Daily Manager Signoff and Meat Cutting List
• Protects company property, funds, and merchandise
• Responsibilities may include other perishable and non-perishable duties to maintain store performance
