Job summary

Hometown Grocers, Inc. in Wisconsin is seeking a Meat Utility Worker to support the Meat Department on the sales floor and in backroom operations. You will assist guests, stock shelves, and ensure proper pricing and packaging of meat and seafood products.

The role requires attention to food safety, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and teamwork with teammates while upholding the company’s guest service standards.

• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with customers and all personnel.
• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to handle a diverse crew in a highly stressful environment.
• Complete understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies.
• Must possess the ability to apply on-the-job safety training and knowledge of equipment such as slicers, proper lifting techniques, trash compactor, baler.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with locating items on or off the sales floor.
• Receives, prepares and fulfills guest orders and other special requests.
• Provides excellent guest services by professionally answering department telephone or on the sales floor.
• Wraps meat and seafood in appropriate packaging.
• Ensures accurate pricing on items within displays and sales floor fills, rotates and removes product according to date.
• Supports teammates and positively contributes to the culture of the Meat Department.
• Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues by practicing our guest service philosophy.
• Ensures high standard quality control by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures and replenishing all meat products on display.
• Maintains proper inventory levels in Meat Department (containers, wraps, tags, etc.).
• Maintains food safety logs and leads by example through following proper procedures.
• Cleans all areas of the department, ... (see HTML) including saws, grinders, mixers, racks, tables, counter tops, service cases, drains, etc.
• Ensures all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm.

Maintains stock levels within the Meat Department’s sales floor by replenishing products as needed. Provides exceptional service to all guests in the Meat Department and on the sales floor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist guests with locating items on or off the sales floor
• Receives, prepares and fulfills guest orders and other special requests
• Provides excellent guest services by professionally answering department telephone or in on the sales floor
• Wraps meat and seafood in appropriate packaging
• Ensures accurate pricing on items within displays and sales floor- fills, rotates and removes product according to date
• Supports teammates and positively contributes to the culture of the Meat Department
• Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues by practicing our guest service philosophy
• Ensures high standard quality control by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures and replenishing all meat products on display
• Maintains proper inventory levels in Meat Department (containers, wraps, tags, etc.)
• Maintains food safety logs and leads by example through following proper procedures
• Cleans all areas of the department, which could include:
  • Emptying garbage
  • Washing dishes
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces, such as saws, grinders, mixers, racks, tables, counter tops, service cases, drains, etc.
  • Sweeping and mopping the floor
  • Cleaning the coolers and holding areas
• Ensures all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
• Other duties as assigned

WORK SCHEDULE
