Job summary

Hometown Grocers, Inc. is seeking a Meat Utility Worker in Kentucky to maintain meat department stock, assist guests, and ensure safety and quality. The role is hourly and part-time, with duties across sales floor and backroom prep.

The position requires strong guest service, teamwork, and ability to handle equipment used in meat processing, while keeping products properly stored and displayed. Flexible shifts may apply.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with meat department equipment: slicers, lifting techniques, trash compactor.

Responsibilities

• Assist guests with locating items on or off the sales floor.
• Receive, prepare and fulfill guest orders and special requests.
• Provide excellent guest service by answering calls or assisting on the floor.
• Wrap meat and seafood in appropriate packaging.
• Ensure accurate pricing and rotate/ restock items on displays.
• Support teammates and contribute to the Meat Department culture.
• Address guest concerns and resolve issues per service philosophy.
• Maintain quality control by inspecting temperatures and replenishing products.
• Maintain inventory levels for department containers, wraps, tags, etc.
• Follow food safety logs and lead by example in procedures.
• Clean all department areas and equipment; floor, surfaces, sinks, etc.

Maintains stock levels within the Meat Department’s sales floor by replenishing products as needed. Provides exceptional service to all guests in the Meat Department and on the sales floor.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist guests with locating items on or off the sales floor
• Receives, prepares and fulfills guest orders and other special requests
• Provides excellent guest services by professionally answering department telephone or in on the sales floor
• Wraps meat and seafood in appropriate packaging
• Ensures accurate pricing on items within displays and sales floor- fills, rotates and removes product according to date
• Supports teammates and positively contributes to the culture of the Meat Department
• Addresses guest concerns and resolves issues by practicing our guest service philosophy
• Ensures high standard quality control by inspecting, rotating, maintaining proper temperatures and replenishing all meat products on display
• Maintains proper inventory levels in Meat Department (containers, wraps, tags, etc.)
• Maintains food safety logs and leads by example through following proper procedures
• Cleans all areas of the department, which could include:
  • Emptying garbage
  • Washing dishes
  • Cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces, such as saws, grinders, mixers, racks, tables, counter tops, service cases, drains, etc.
  • Sweeping and mopping the floor
  • Cleaning the coolers and holding areas
• Ensures all quality standards are being met, including quantity expectations at 100% by 10 am and 5 pm
• Other duties as assigned

WORK SCHEDULE

The Meat Utility Worker is an hourly part-time position. The work schedule may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
