Key Responsibilities:

Customer Support & Consultation:

• Travel to customer locations nationwide to provide technical assistance in the development, formulation, and production of further-processed meat products (e.g., sausages, deli meats, value-added items).
• Troubleshoot production issues, optimize processing techniques, and provide solutions to improve product quality, consistency, and yield.
• Offer on-site training to customers and their teams on best practices, equipment usage, and new processing technologies.
• Assist our sales team with customer presentations with the goal of selling more equipment.

Product Development:

• Collaborate with customer R&D and product development teams to create new meat product formulations based on customer needs and market trends.
• Test and validate new ingredients, processing methods, and technologies for commercial-scale production.

Quality Control & Assurance:

• Ensure adherence to food safety standards, regulatory compliance, and quality control procedures during customer visits.
• Conduct product quality assessments, including texture, flavor, appearance, and shelf life stability.
• Assist in troubleshooting quality-related issues and implement corrective actions as needed.

Technical Expertise & Innovation:

• Stay current on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in meat processing.
• Provide feedback to the internal team regarding customer needs, challenges, and opportunities for product and process improvements.
• Work closely with internal teams to develop customized solutions that meet specific customer requirements.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, technical solutions, and product performance.
• Provide comprehensive reports and recommendations after each customer visit.
• Document and track customer feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Animal Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 to 4 years of experience in meat processing, product development, or technical services within the meat industry.
• Knowledge of meat cutting, processing methods, and further processing technologies.

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong technical knowledge of meat processing and further-processed meat products.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in a production environment.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear and practical manner to diverse audiences.
• Experience with quality control, food safety standards, and regulatory compliance in the meat industry.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple customer visits and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining a customer-focused approach.

Travel Requirements:

• Extensive travel across the United States, including overnight stays and occasional weekend work.
• Willingness to travel up to 80-90% of the time during the week (Mon-Fri)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with new product development or process optimization in further processed meat products.
• Familiarity with industry certifications, such as HACCP, SQF, or GMP.
• Ability to work with small or large-scale meat processing equipment and production lines.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role or as a technical service representative.
