Job summary

California Fresh Market in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Meat & Seafood Associate to support Receiving, Department Maintenance, Merchandising and Customer Service. You will check invoices, rotate stock, assist customers with orders, and help maintain clean, compliant meat areas.

Responsibilities include monitoring temperatures, logging activities, and carrying out daily tasks to ensure freshness, quality, and safety.

• Minimum 1 year experience in Meat & Seafood department or equivalent retail experience.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule to include a variety of shifts -- afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays

Responsibilities

• Check the load against the invoice for proper billing.
• Report overages and shortages to the Meat Department manager.
• Inspect all products for quality and condition; report unacceptable items to the Meat Department manager.
• Put load away in designated storage area with proper rotation and cleanliness.
• Code dates on products to assist in rotation.
• Coordinate storage of items to be returned to suppliers and discard unsellable items.
• Ensure meat shelves, displays, aisles, prep & storage areas are clean and meet health standards.
• Perform daily cooler & sales floor temperature checks.
• Maintain accurate shrinkage logs and department logs.
• Cleans and sanitizes meat prep areas, equipment, and fixtures per department procedures and health regulations.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and notify Meat Manager when supplies are low.
