Responsibilities

• Customer Service: Smile, greet, and assist customers courteously.
• Receiving: Accurately receive meat department merchandise following company procedures.
• Verification: Match invoices with products; weigh meat regularly for accuracy.
• Problem-Solving: Report discrepancies and complete vendor forms as needed.
• Inventory Communication: Inform Meat Manager of inventory levels.
• Stocking: Move products to coolers; rotate using FIFO.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow receiving hours and food safety policies.
• Product Care: Monitor refrigeration temperatures.
• Sales Support: Promote sales through suggestive selling.
• Teamwork: Support coworkers and maintain honesty in packaging, weighing, pricing.
• Other Duties: Take on additional tasks as assigned.

About the Role

The Meat Receiver is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, and stocking all meat department products. This role verifies invoices, inspects quality, rotates stock, and maintains clean, organized storage rooms, coolers, and freezers- all while providing excellent service and ensuring compliance with Vallarta’s standards for food safety and honesty.

What You’ll Do

• Customer Service: Smile, greet, and assist customers courteously.
• Receiving: Accurately receive meat department merchandise following company procedures.
• Verification: Match invoices/notes of purchase with products received; weigh meat regularly to ensure accuracy.
• Problem-Solving: Report discrepancies to vendors and the Meat Manager; complete vendor error forms as needed.
• Inventory Communication: Regularly inform Meat Manager of inventory levels.
• Stocking: Transport product to coolers/storage after receiving; rotate products using FIFO practices.
• Compliance & Safety: Follow receiving hours; adhere to Vallarta’s food safety, sanitation, and safety policies.
• Product Care: Monitor refrigeration temperatures and report discrepancies.
• Sales Support: Promote sales through suggestive selling and customer engagement.
• Teamwork: Assist coworkers, communicate with management, and maintain honesty in packaging, weighing, and pricing.
• Other Duties: Complete additional responsibilities assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

• Stand and walk constantly (6-8+ hours/day).
• Frequent bending (neck/waist), squatting, twisting, and reaching above/below shoulders.
• Frequent repetitive hand use (simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling).
• Lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Heaviest item: one box, 65 lbs., carried up to 3 feet.
• Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and moving equipment safely.
• Work near equipment and machinery, with exposure to noise, temperature, and humidity changes.
• No work at heights; no walking on uneven ground required.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Fast-paced meat department receiving and retail setting.
• Exposure to perishable products, refrigerated coolers, equipment, and changing conditions.
• Collaborative, team-oriented workplace.
• Must work flexible schedule: afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
