Job summary

NSP is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor in KC to oversee maintenance of equipment, machinery and facilities ensuring safe production operations. The role includes leading a team, scheduling work, implementing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with production for uptime.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of supervisory experience in meat processing or related manufacturing, with strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems and a focus on safety and cost control.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in a related field preferred.
  • 3-5 years of previous supervisory experience in meat processing/manufacturing food production or a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Experience in PLCs frequency controls, direct current devices, temperature controls and transducers.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting such as threading and sweating pipes.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairs hydraulic and pneumatic equipment/systems using schematics and visual observation.
  • Knowledge of welding and cutting using Tig, Mig, Acetylene, Plasma.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
  • Knowledge of production equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English with strong verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance team, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient operations.
  • Schedule and assign maintenance tasks, ensuring timely completion of work orders.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in processing equipment.
  • Lead repair efforts, ensuring repairs are completed safely and in compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct safety training for maintenance staff and promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting expenses and controlling costs.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings through efficient maintenance practices.
  • Work closely with production and quality assurance teams to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for specialized repairs and maintenance services.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment performance.
  • Prepare reports on maintenance metrics and present them to management.
  • Train and mentor maintenance staff in best practices, new technologies and safety protocols.
  • Foster a continuous improvement mindset within the maintenance team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
