The Production Supervisor is a team-oriented, goal-driven leader to guide a meat production group to meet overall division goals while maintaining high quality standards and exceptional customer service.

This role is 100% onsite at the Houston Stockyards location.

Schedule

Monday - Friday

11 am CT - shift end (when work is complete)

Responsibilities:

• Ensure Meat Cutters/Butchers are trained properly in maximizing cut yield for each part of the animal and all species. Measure cut yields regularly and ensure they align with profitability metrics.
• Assign work in the Production Room for same-day or future orders, organize cutting tickets to ensure raw material is prepped and available for efficient product flow.
• Ensure first-in, first-out meat rotation from the Cooler and Freezer for all species.
• Ensure the correct meat is being cut according to customer specifications and pars are being met.
• Work with Buyers to ensure adequate inventory to meet production needs and forecast future needs.
• Collaborate with Sales and Purchasing to plan future order production and inventory requirements.
• Coordinate with Food Safety & Quality Assurance to maintain good manufacturing practices, meet HACCP and OSHA requirements, and uphold USDA standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

• Provide direct supervision for Meat Cutters and/or Production associates.

Qualifications:

Education/Training:

• High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.

Related Experience:

• At least 2 years managing/leading an hourly workforce.
• At least 2 years of food production experience (meat, poultry, or seafood).
• Experience with meat cutting, portion control techniques, production processes, and yield analysis is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Proactive problem solver with good communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and high ethical standards.
• Ability to motivate teams and understand financial reports and yield mathematics.
• Willingness to perform above industry standards.
• Experience supervising butchers/meat cutters.
• Skills in process improvement and productivity measurement.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work in a cold environment (30-45°F).

Physical Activities:

• Sit occasionally, stand frequently, walk often, drive often with forklift/pallet jack.
• Lift, carry, push/pull, climb, stoop, kneel, bend, reach, grasp, manipulate, and twist as specified.
