Job Description
Perform general product preparation, clean-up, and stock work in the Meat department and provide customer service. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform tasks such as cutting, grinding, slicing, preparing, processing, trimming, tenderizing, sealing, packaging, wrapping, bagging, pricing, prefabricating, dating, labeling, scaling, merchandising, selling, serving customers, and other functions in accordance with company policies.
- Keep department temperature logs accurately updated and maintained.
- Stock and display meat items safely and in accordance with company standards.
- Check product quality; ensure proper rotation and freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of sales areas, backrooms, and coolers.
- Keep carts, tools, and supplies organized and in designated areas.
- Ensure floors are clean, safe, and free from clutter.
- Provide good customer and associate relations.
- Communicate effectively with customers and fellow associates.
- Unload trucks, sort orders, and store in proper cooler locations.
- Wash and sanitize equipment following company and health department policies.
- Make a friendly impression on customers.
- Promptly and cheerfully serve customers, greet them, and offer quality foods.
- Contribute to increasing store sales and profits through retail operations and marketing programs.
- Maintain professionalism, tact, and courtesy in all interactions.
- Adhere to policies promoting a harassment- and discrimination-free work environment.
- Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
- Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
- Support interactions with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
- Willing to work weekends and holidays.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to read shelf tags, signs, and labels.
- Safe use of cleaning solutions, sharp tools, and equipment.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Handle stressful situations tactfully and calmly, leaving a positive impression.
Desired
- Experience in meat work or food preparation.
- Dependability and integrity in past work records.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment, safety, and food handling.
