Job description

Assist in managing and supervising up to 15 associates in the Meat / Seafood Department. Responsible for supporting the Meat / Seafood Manager with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Harris Teeter's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.

Associates must be at least 18 years old.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and understand simple instructions, memos, and correspondence in English.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information to customers and associates who speak only English.
Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of HT Internet software, email, inventory software, spreadsheets, and word processing software.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations with numbers, money, weight, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates and Licenses
  • Completion of company's training programs including orientation, food sanitation, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, handle, reach, talk, hear, and use senses of taste and smell.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, reaching from 6-72 inches.
Work Environment
  • Constantly works in a cool environment (34-36°F), frequently exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and extreme cold.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud.
