Job summary

Kroger Newport is seeking a Meat Department team member to prepare and display meat items, wait on customers, and demonstrate our leadership behaviors and core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

You will keep displays neat, check freshness, unload trucks, assist customers, maintain clean work areas, follow all safety rules, and work with team members to meet department goals.

Qualifications

• Willing and available to work weekends and holidays
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Able to read shelf tags, signs, and product labels
• Qualified and able to operate meat dept tools (wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, jack)
• Must work safely with cleaning solutions
• Team player in a fast-paced environment
• Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation
• Past work record reflects dependability and integrity
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, food handling, etc.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and display merchandise in a neat, efficient, orderly manner.
• Check product quality; ensure freshness and proper rotation.
• Keep sales areas, backrooms, coolers clean and well organized.
• Unload trucks, sort and prepare merchandise for sale.
• Provide good customer and associate relations.
• Wash and sanitize equipment per policies.
• Greet customers and assist them in finding products.
• Follow all current rules and duties of Meat, Company, and State and Federal laws.
