Job summary

The Save Mart Companies is seeking a Meat Manager in California to lead the Meat Department, ensure exceptional customer service, maximize sales, and maintain standards for freshness, cleanliness, and safety. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in meat cutting, department leadership, and compliance with food safety guidelines.

You will oversee daily operations of the Meat Department, manage labor and training for Meat Clerks and Cutters, monitor product rotation and labeling,

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Journeyman Meat Cutter level or 2 years verifiable meat cutting experience (≈4,160 hours).
• Knowledge of meat products, cutting techniques, tools and equipment.
• Strong leadership, communication and customer service skills.
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs and work in refrigerated environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day Meat Department operations including cutting, merchandising, inventory and sanitation.
• Ensure health, safety, and company policy compliance.
• Manage department labor, scheduling and training for Meat Clerks and Cutters.
• Maintain product rotation, monitor quality and freshness.
• Engage customers, answer questions and offer meal solutions.
• Drive sales and profitability through merchandising and promotions.
• Control shrink, manage inventory and pricing accuracy.
• Collaborate with store leadership on strategic planning.
