Job summary

ShopRite in Saker, NJ is seeking a Meat Wrapper Clerk to wrap, package, scale and price mark merchandise in the Meat Department, keeping the area neat, clean and visually appealing while following Company policy.

You will work in a refrigerated environment, lift up to 90 lbs., stand for long hours, and deliver friendly, efficient service to customers while handling products and assisting with pricing and promotions.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English.
• Basic math proficiency.
• Stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs., occasionally 80-90 lbs.
• Strong knowledge of safe food handling and safe work habits.
• Ability to stand/walk for scheduled shifts.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to handle fresh, dried and/or processed products and spices.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to cooperate with others.
• Ability to meet time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance and report issues.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as required and report problems.
• Maintain sanitation per policy.
• Stock merchandise and display cases.
• Be knowledgeable about department products.
• Clean and sanitize all surfaces and equipment.
• Keep floors clear of debris and spills.
• Perform basic math for discounts, margins, and invoices.
• Work in refrigerated and cold storage areas and occasional freezer duties.
• Complete required reports (sales, inventory, logs, audits).
• Check prices and locations of items; assist customers with promotions.
• Stand at workstation for long shifts; overtime as assigned.
• Unload trucks and transport meat items weighing 35 lbs. (up to 90 lbs.).
• Promote charitable promotions to customers.
• Follow Company safety, QA, and hygiene standards.
