Job summary

Homeland Stores in Oklahoma City is seeking a Meat Sales Clerk at the Homeland Store 153. This part-time role focuses on maximizing sales in the Meat Department through exceptional customer service and knowledge of products.

You will identify meat cuts, assist with stocking, pricing, and displaying products, and ensure safety, sanitation, and proper temperature controls. Strong English reading/writing and basic math are required.

Qualifications

• Basic mathematical ability (add, subtract, multiply, divide) and ability to count.
• Able to give/receive complex verbal instructions/descriptions to/from supervisors/co-workers/employees concerning store/department policy/procedures and use of equipment.
• A stable work and educational history.
• The ability to read and write English. Able to read instructions, merchandise labels, warehouse order codes, numbers, reports, printed paper invoices and order forms.
• Make judgments concerning the placement of merchandise on the shelf/display, case-opening procedures, extent of unsalable product damage, conversation with customers, selling of product, display of product, use of packaging materials for product, quality of product for display and ordering of processed items.
• Able to open cases and stock so that product will not be damaged.
• Able to clearly price-mark/label products for customers and cashiers.
• Good interpersonal communications.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment where customers feel welcomed and appreciated by answering questions about products and in-store services.
• Maintain knowledge of meat department products to better assist customers and make suggestions.
• Identify the various cuts of meat.
• Review daily communications and follow intercom announcements.
• Adhere to safety, product dating, rotation, sanitation, temperature logs, and grinding logs policies.
• Assist with stocking and ensure correct pricing and signage per sale ads.
• Assist with unloading deliveries and moving products to freezer or display areas.
• Prepare/organize cooler/freezer/backroom for receipt of merchandise.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary working environment per safety procedures.
• Understand operations and safety requirements of meat department equipment.
• Evaluate product quality and manage damaged/unsalable items for sale or re-processing.
