• Strong knowledge of meat department operations, product handling, production, and merchandising.
• Ability to plan and prioritize department responsibilities in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Strong attention to product quality, freshness, sanitation, accuracy, and presentation.
• Ability to manage inventory, production, ordering, and shrink-control activities.
• Ability to provide clear direction and effectively lead a team.
• Ability to safely operate approved meat department equipment after appropriate training.
• Ability to follow and enforce established food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Previous meat department, meat cutting, grocery retail, food production, or supervisory experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily meat department operations and establish department priorities.
• Plan and coordinate cutting, preparation, wrapping, stocking, and merchandising activities based on sales and customer demand.
• Monitor product freshness, quality, appearance, temperature, and availability throughout the day.
• Ensure meat cases, displays, counters, coolers, freezers, and preparation areas are clean and stocked.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable, and professional customer service.
• Assist customers with product selections, preparation questions, and other meat department needs.
• Lead and develop department associates, manage inventory and shrink, and ensure profitability.
