Job summary

Mariano is hiring for a Meat Department leadership role in Des Plaines, IL. You will supervise department functions in the Meat Manager's absence and support daily meat operations, ensuring exceptional customer service and strong adherence to safety and quality standards.

You will train and develop associates, manage scheduling, and maintain inventory accuracy while keeping customers informed about specials and promotions.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Current food handlers permit once employed.
• Adequate knife handling skills and speed.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all laws, safety and food safety regulations and company guidelines.
• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Communicate department information to associates.
• Empower associates to meet targets through teamwork.
• Develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume.
• Train associates on job performance and participate in appraisals.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome and valued.
• Demonstrate Journeyman Meat Cutter skills and cut to requests.
• Inform customers of meat specials and offer samples.
• Provide accurate portions and prevent shrink.
• Manage production with the Cutting Tool to minimize shrink.
• Stay current on ads and inform staff of promotions.
• Maintain merchandising standards and inventory awareness.
• Ensure price integrity on tags and signs.
• Comply with Country of Origin Labeling.
• Assist in inventory processes when needed.
• Maintain proper temperatures and logs in cases and coolers.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs to Store Manager.
• Report safety risks, accidents, theft or fraud.
