Job summary

ShopRite of Norwalk is hiring a Meat Cutter Clerk in the Meat Department. You will cut and trim meat according to company standards and assist customers in selecting meat items.

The role involves standing, lifting up to 80-90 lbs occasionally, working in refrigerated environments, and ensuring safety, sanitation, and accurate pricing. Minimum qualifications include English proficiency, basic math, and knowledge of safe food handling.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret and understand English
• Ability to perform basic math
• Strong knowledge of safe food handling and safe work habits
• Ability to regularly lift 35 lbs. and occasionally 80-90 lbs
• Ability to work in varying temperatures
• Ability to operate Meat Department equipment such as band saws, grinders, wrapping machines, power jacks, knives and cutters

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment
• Maintain sanitation control according to Company policy
• Clean and sanitize all work surfaces, utensils and equipment in accordance with Department of Sanitation and QA standards
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills
• Work in environments including refrigerated cutting rooms and low-temperature storage
• Follow procedures for receiving, dating, storing, pricing, restocking products
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy
• Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance and report failures
