Job summary

ShopRite of Manchester in Manchester, CT is seeking a Meat Cutter Clerk to deliver a great customer experience in the Meat Department. You will cut and trim meat according to company standards and help customers choose items.

This part-time role requires stamina to stand long shifts, lift up to 90 lbs, work in cool temperatures, and operate department equipment; training and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Strong knowledge of safe food handling and safe work habits.
• Ability to regularly lift 35 lbs and occasionally 80–90 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures.
• Ability to work with meat products and avoid allergens.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents.
• Operate meat department equipment such as band saws, grinders, wrapping machines, power jacks, knives and cutters.
• Stand/walk for extended shifts.
• Interact with customers in a friendly way.
• Work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Sanitation control according to policy.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces, utensils and equipment.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Work in refrigerated / cool areas with occasional freezing storage.
• Handle product receiving, dating, storing, and price marking.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report failures.
• Unload trucks and transport merchandise to Meat Department.
• Cut and trim meat according to company specifications.
• Rotate and restock meat in cases.
• Follow all health, safety, and company procedures.
