Job Description

Create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment that encourages our customers to return. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service. Responsibilities
  1. Promote trust and respect among associates.
  2. Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  3. Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  4. Cut meats to customer’s requests using proper cutting equipment.
  5. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
  6. Inform customers of meat specials.
  7. Provide customers with fresh/frozen products that they have ordered and the correct portion size (or as close as possible to the amount ordered) to prevent shrink.
  8. Recommend meat items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
  9. Use all equipment in meat department such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
  10. Prepare food to company standards.
  11. Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients in merchandise.
  12. Check product quality to ensure freshness. Review “sell by” dates and take appropriate action.
  13. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
  14. Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
  15. Display a positive attitude.
  16. Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
  17. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  18. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
  19. Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate personnel of repairs.
  20. Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
  21. Report safety risks, issues, and illegal activities such as robbery, theft, or fraud.
  22. Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
  23. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  24. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  25. Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
  26. Support and assist with interactions involving minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  27. Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications
Minimum
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Current food handlers permit upon employment
  • Knife handling skills and speed
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
Desired

  • Retail experience
  • Second language (speaking, reading, and/or writing)
