Job summary

Fresh Thyme Market is seeking a Meat Cutter to keep meat cases stocked, clean, and accurately tagged. You will assist customers at the counter, ensure proper temperature control, and maintain product quality across Meat and Seafood offerings.

The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and teamwork in a fast-paced grocery environment. Starting hourly pay ranges from $19.50 to $22.00 with benefits for full-time team members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency degree.
• Minimum 2 years professional experience.
• 2–3 years grocery retail experience in Meat department preferred.
• Journeyman cutter or apprenticeship program completed preferred.
• Experience in natural foods industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Stocks meat cases; presentation, facing, filling, and organization per Meat Department schematics and pricing.
• Ensures cleanliness of meat aisles, storage area, and work area for safety.
• Monitors rotation of meat products, watching for expired stock.
• Assists customers with purchases and product selection at the meat counter.
• Receives, inspects, and logs products for shipment, temperature and quality.
• Operates equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, and hand trucks.
• Maintains proper temperatures during production of meat and seafood items.
• Cuts, trays, and packages required meat/seafood products for the day.
• Maintains organization in cooler and freezer; weighs and labels products.
• Prepares specialty meat/seafood items per recipe standards.
• Follows safety practices; uses mesh gloves when cutting.
• Participates in pre-inventory; back stock and tag matching.
• Maintains product knowledge and preparation standards.
• Walks department to keep it organized and sanitary; performs other duties as assigned.
