Job summary

PCC Community Markets in Issaquah, WA invites you to a full-time apprentice program to become a certified meat cutter. You will gain hands-on training, learn meat and seafood handling, and prepare for certification through the Seattle Meat Cutters Apprenticeship.

You’ll receive on-the-job instruction, develop strong customer service skills, and work toward journey-level status while contributing to PCC’s commitment to fresh, sustainable products.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong knife skills demonstrated.
• Basic cooking or food preparation experience.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and lift up to 60 lbs regularly.
• Flexibility to work at multiple locations within the region.
• Current Food Worker Card from WA Dept. of Health required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a 2-year apprentice program through South Seattle Community College to become certified as a meat cutter.
• Receive on-the-job instruction to become a journey-level meat cutter.
• Learn meat cutting theory and practices per Seattle Meat Cutters Apprenticeship Standards.
• Identify cuts and types of meat and fish, stocking, receiving, pricing, and merchandising.
• Provide excellent, professional customer service.
• Cut, prepare and handle meat and seafood per PCC standards.
• Maintain scales, labels, signage, and department sanitation.
