Job summary

Homeland in Sand Springs, OK is seeking a part-time Meat Cutter at Cash Saver Store 778CS. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and prior meat-cutting experience. Identify cuts, weigh, wrap, and display products while delivering friendly service.

Responsibilities include handling perishable items, following store policies, and maintaining a clean, organized department. Training is provided; supervision by the Meat Department Manager. Employee Owner mindset encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Identify the cuts of meat, breakdown, weigh, wrap, and package products
• Greet customers, respond to questions/requests/complaints, explain store policies, and record special orders
• Review the perishable department board and follow intercom guidelines
• Prepare/organize cooler/freezer/backroom for receipt of merchandise and verify against invoice
• Load carts/pallets and transport products to floors/back areas, rotate items on display
• Understand safety rules and operate equipment under supervision of Meat Department Manager

Primary Responsibilities

• To identify the various cuts of meat, to breakdown cut and trim all meat products as directed by company standards, weigh, wrap/package products in a clean, neat and attractive package.
• To greet customers, respond to customer questions/requests/complaints and explain store policies in a courteous manner, as well as to write down customers’ special orders/requests
• To review the perishable department Communication Board daily and follow the guidelines for intercom announcements.
• To prepare/organize the cooler/freezer/backroom/preparation area for receipt of merchandise, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for quality/shortages/damage, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all case items in the cooler/freezer.
• To load stocking carts/pallets, transport cases/product to sales floor/ cooler/freezer/product preparation area either on stocking carts or pallets, match the case strip to the shelf/case tag/stock, open cases, place merchandise in the designated cooler/freezer/case/shelf/display position/area, check the product code/freshness date and "face/front"/rotate each product on display.
• To understand the operations, safety requirements and restraints of a baler, case cutter, pallet jack, pricing gun, grinder, tenderizer, saw, knife, slicer, scales, wrapper, (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, baler, grinder, tenderizer, saw and slicer).
• SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Journeyman Meat Cutter reports directly to the Meat Department Manager.

Qualifications

• Basic Mathematics (Add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Prior meat cutting experience
• Specific tasks: Lift, twist, move and carry a maximum of 75 lbs., from the floor to shelving, or overhead racks in the store and cooler/freezer, and up to 10 yards.
• Maintain active signage and pricing in all departmental areas.
• Care for signs, banners, and debris from daily operations.
• Accurately and efficiently handle cash, debit/credit, EBT/WIC, coupons, and vouchers.
• Respond to customers, coworkers, and vendor questions and responses promptly and politely.
• Proper usage of store phone and intercom systems.
• To supervise/perform the checking of case and cooler temperatures 4 times daily utilizing the time keeping system to record each check.
• To clean and sanitize department floors, mirror, case, racks, tables, cooler, freezer, department equipment, product-preparation area, and shelves.
• Safely use cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Read production-equipment gauges/controls, case labels/strips, equipment and chemical-warning labels, signs, tags, shelf signs, code dates, invoices, temperature gauges, reports, numbers and aisle markers.

Work Environment Note

Inside work with transitions of heat/cold/humidity/dust from backdoor/compressors/cooler/freezer/preparation area.
