Qualifications

• Experience with deboning, trimming, and portioning preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a refrigerated environment.
• Prompt and regular attendance is required.

• Move meat from coolers to cutting area and return cut meat to coolers
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the butcher area

At West Dakota Meats we're proud to bring the best meat processing services to North Dakota, from handling game to custom cuts for family meals.

We are a small family owned business seeking a temporary full time Butcher's Assistant who will use meat grinders, knives, saws and other tools to cut meat down into smaller, more manageable pieces. You'll work side by side with experienced meat cutters to learn the craft of cutting, trimming and preparing a variety of meat products. This is a hands-on role in a fast paced environment, perfect for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys helping others and is eager to grow their skills.

What will I do?

• Skin deer
• Cut, trim, debone, tie, and grind meats such as wild game, beef and pork
• Perform meat cutting and trimming tasks with precision and skill
• Use equipment such as knives, grinders, or bandsaws to cut and trim meat to desired size
• Move meat from coolers to cutting area and returns cut meat to coolers
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the butcher area, adhering to strict hygiene practices

Preferred skill sets:

• Prompt and regular attendance required
• Proficient in meat cutting techniques, including deboning, trimming and portioning
• Strong food preparation skills and experience in meat cutting.
• Ability to use knives, scales, and other implements safely and with precision.
• Knowledgeable about the different cuts of meat
• Friendly and helpful attitude
• Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, work in a refrigerated environment.

We have part or full-time shifts available Monday - Saturdays.
